A Design Sprint for Connected Living
The Team's Solution: Kidnect

What if you had a good use for your old phone that also ensured your kid wasn’t always trying to play with your current phone? With Kidnect you’ve got both! Kidnect brings the Internet of Things alive for your child by helping them explore their independence through connected devices.

Kidnect is a kid friendly connected device that can be controlled by a smart phone. Now, instead of adding to the landfill, simply repurpose your old phone so your child can interact with the Kidnect bot. The bot is programmed for a number of kid-friendly activities, including an easy-to-use light switch so they can manage how bright or dark they want their bedroom, a bedtime countdown clock, a reward indicator for when they’ve accomplished various chores, and even a spoken calendar.

In addition to the pre-programmed actions, Kidnect is designed with an open API so you (and other developers) can build an entire ecosystem of activities on the bot. The bot is playfully designed to look like a stuffed animal-robot hybrid, with big ears and friendly smile. It includes ambient lights, an accelerometer, bluetooth/wifi connectivity, speakers, and more.

Empower your child to explore the Internet of Things and have a little more control over their environment and nighttime rituals.
